Graff

What the brewery say

We love it when two worlds collide. A graff is just that, a unique, improbable hybrid of beer and cider that defies all rules and parameters.

Juicy blended apples are fermented with a caramelised and malty beer wort, the alchemy provided by the skillful addition of American Ale and Sauvignon Blanc style yeasts.

The blend of hops gently opens the nose to the aroma of crusty bread. Combining the maltiness of grains with the sharpness of fruit, it delivers an intense mouthfeel evoking memories of continental beer, against the subtle sweetness of pure apple juice.

Where we drank it

Another Monday hike, this time we’re in the Oberseetal valley in Canton Glarus, hiking the Ahornen-Rundweg. Summer has really started here in Switzerland, with a temperature down in the valley of about 30°c and nearly as hot up in the hills. To accompany a lunch of cheese, tomatoes and cold meats we chose a refreshing can of Graff from Hawkes London. I didn’t get a major hit of apples in this, but it was a nice light, refreshing beer for a hot day.
