Gare de Genève-Cornavin to Genève-Plage

Summary: Starting at Geneva’s main station Gare de Genève-Cornavin, this barrier free walk takes us down Rue du Mont-Blanc and across Pont du Mont-Blanc. From there we walk along the edge of the lake to Genève-Plage

Starting from the signpost outside Starbucks in Place de Cornavin, we walk down the pedestrianised part of Rue du Mont-Blanc, past The various shops and cafes, towards the lake.

After crossing the first road, we carry on down Rue du Mont-Blanc, past the impressive post office building and then cross another two roads, before arriving at the English Church of the Holy Trinity (Église Anglaise).

After crossing another road, we walk past the Hôtel Bristol Genève and turn left on to Quai du Mont-Blanc, where we get our first sight of Lac Léman, the mountains in the distance and the Jet d’Eau. After crossing Quai du Mont-Blanc on the pedestrian crossing and turning right, we walk on to Pont du Mont-Blanc.

After crossing the bridge, we turn left onto 
Promenade du Lac as it makes its way along the edge of the lake, next to Park Jardin Anglais.

We continue along Promenade du Lac, between the lake and the park, until we reach Buste de Alexandre Calame at the other end of the park, which marks the point where we turn slightly to the left to continue along Promenade du Lac.

 

Shortly after the statue, there are some steps, which this barrier-free route bypasses by turning to the right and walking to Quai Gustave-Ador and then following the pavement a short distance, before turning left to go back onto the promenade.

Continuing along this part of the prominade, past the various small boats and occasional lake-side restaurants and cafes, until we reach the and then Quai Gustave-Ador, until we reach the Genève-Eaux-Vives ferry terminal, where we turn right and walk towards the road.

Turning left, we now walk along the wide tree-lined pavement that is set back from the edge of the lake. past the Allianz Cinema Genève outdoor cinema, after which the pavement narrows and runs alongside the edge of the lake.

Finally, we arrive at the bus stop Genève-Plage, which marks the end of the walk. For the bus back to the city center, you will need to cross the road to the bus stop on the opposite side.
