Chammhüttli to Guscha
Summary: From Chammhüttli, follow the edge of the cliff upwards until you reach the top and the panoramic hiking trail along the ridge to the Guscha summit, taking time to take in the magnificent 360° views of Flums, Alvier and the Pizol region.
The trail starts off climbing up along the edge of the cliff, and along an easy to follow path leading up the remainder of the way until it levels out at the top of ridge.
Normally, this would be an easy part of the hike, but this early in the season, the snow field that is shown in the picture to the right makes things slightly harder as you have to cross it to reach the path to the top.
Once you reach the top, stop for a moment to admire the 360º panorama, and you can just make out the cairn atop the summit of Guscha in the distance in front of you.

It is now just a matter of following the trail markers along the ridge as we make our way towards the summit.

Just past the summit of Guscha, a small grassy area made an ideal spot for a well-deserved lunch before starting the final section of the hike.
For lunch, I paired traditional Swiss Gruyère cheese, Tessinerbrot and a selection of cold meats with a glass of Punk IPA from Scottish craft brewer Brewdog. The remains of the winter snow meant that I was able to cool the beer while I prepared the rest of the meal. There’s nothing to beat a refreshing, snow cooled beer at the top of a mountain, especially with the 360º panoramic views that you get from the summit of Guscha. |
