Brewdog Big Smoke Beer Visa challenge

Saturday

The day started with a National Express coach from Luton to Baker Street. From Baker Street, a trip on the underground to Oxford Circus and a short walk brings me to the first bar.

Brewdog Soho

Brewdog SohoThe first bar of the trap is Brewdog Soho, I arrive just after opening, at 11:15, so the bar is fairly quiet, which means that I’m served quickly. The bar has the usual selection of booths, high tables and a open seating area at the end.

Brewdog vs. North Brewing Co, "All Roads (Lead North)"I decide to start the trip with one of my favourite beer styles, a stout, and my choice is a Brewdog collaboration with North Brewing Co., “All Roads (Lead North)“, a 7.2% Tonka Bean, Coffee and Vanilla Milk Stout.

The only bad thing about trying to visit a dozen or more bars over the space of a weekend is that I’ve only allowed myself half an hour in each and due to the coach from Luton being 20 minutes late I’m already behind schedule, so I’m cutting short the visits in the early bars as I expect to have to wait to get served later in the day when the bars are busier.

Brewdog Seven Dials

Leaving Brewdog Soho, it’s a short walk through Soho to Brewdog Seven Dials. Located on the junction of Charing Cross Road and Shaftesbury Avenue, this is a pub with history. Formerly the Marquis of Gramby, in its heyday in the ’70s and ’80s the old Marquis was said to be the hangout for the Sex Pistols and the Clash, you don’t get more punk than that.

Brewdog have reinvented the pub as 3 floors of craft beer heaven, with 20 taps serving a range of Brewdog and other craft beers.

Having started the day with a heavy hitter, I’m switching to a lower alcohol beer this time as there’s still a long way to go today. The beer of choice in Seven Dials is Kirsche Kaiser, a 3.1% ABV Sour Berliner Weisse, with hints of cherry as the name suggests.

Leaving SevenDials, its time for a slightly longer walk to Brewdog Clerkenwell.
