Trail Details

Sandboden to Hinter Brosmatt

Summary: From Sandboden, we initially follow a wider track made of a mixture of dirt, gravel and grass as it leads through the trees, onto a smaller path as it makes its way down through the trees and over a small Alpine stream, and then across a more exposed area littered with large rocks. From here, it is back onto a dirt path until we eventually reach Vorderbrosmat and then follow the gravel track to Hinter Brosmatt

At the Sandboden signpost, we leave the road and turn right onto a grass and dirt track that we follow through the trees, until we reach another one of the numbered Bärgmandli signs and a wooden bench.

Here, we leave the wide track and follow the trail markers down into the trees, initially on a set of dirt steps. The trail is narrower now and in places it can be difficult to see where it goes, so keep an eye open for the next red and white trail marker.

The trail leads down through the trees, crossing a small stream on wooden footbridges, before starting  to ascend and gradually getting rockier.

The path continues over this more rockier terrain, and with the less dense woodland, there are wonderful views towards Sarnersee (although a bit hazy on the day I walked).

After covering this more rocky area, the trail once again enters a more wooded area and the the rocks thin out, leaving a dirt track to follow, up through the trees until it eventually opens out into a meadow. before once again entering the trees. Eventually, we reach a turnstile type gate and a final short climb up to a signpost and a wider track.

Turning left here, we walk past the buildings of Vorderbrosmat and join a gravel track. that leads us along the side of the mountain, until we reach a tarmac road and the signpost at Brosmatt

Joining the tarmac road, we join it as it gently climbs, past the buildings of Hinter Brosmatt, until a short distance afterwards, we reach another signpost and the end of this section of the hike.
